Messy hearts made of thunder
I seem to be enjoying something of a burst of speed lately, at least illustratively speaking. Where once I would have taken days to finish a page, I now find only hours zipping by as I feverishly ink things. Hooray! Now if only my writing could keep up with my drawing...

Here then is an as yet unnamed comic. Well, the first page of it anyway. Confidentially, it's a bit of a stretch for me; I've never done anything autobiographical before (though I'm not sure if recounting a dream qualifies as autobio). But I'm feeling playful, and I haven't been able to get it out of my head since I had it. So there you go.

Check out the inside of my head

How's everybody doing?

I am pretty good. This page is very nice looking, are you fighting the Nazi's?

It's a little early for the Nazis, historically speaking. I'm fighting the Kaiser right now. At least until I dream about socking Hitler in the jaw.

And thanks. I'm trying to think of a good hero to give you for your year-long quest.

Make sure it is either Blob, Clayface, or someone else.

wow......the inking and hatching are boiling into a real cohesive whole on this page, along with the spot blacks...........

Thank you! And trust me, it's only going to get weirder from here on out.

Always wanted to be a WWI pilot, ever since I saw how gentlemanly they treat each other in La Grande Illusion. I'm sure Snoopy and the Red Baron played a factor in that too, come to think of it.

Seeing somewhat regular comics from you is an exciting thing! I hope this creative burst continues for ETERNITY.

Can't stop me now! I'll keep making comics till my body falls apart and I'm forced to draw them with ectoplasm. And then I'll make some more.

I've developed a plan to take your arms (the obvious source of your drawing prowess) and graft them to my body so that with our combined powers I might rule the world of comics.

No, that's not a weird thing to say. That's not a weird thing to say at all...

GORO-IAN!!! scary thought though. I hope this dream somehow entails you shooting sergeant Adolf in the testicle. Plus, historically speaking, I see you as more of a 1910s/1920s sort of character as opposed to WWII era anyhow.

Sorry, no testicle target practice in this one. And I am much more interested in the turn of last century and the Jazz Age than WWII (though I have my nostalgia for that as well); which I think is exactly the region of my brain responsible for this dream.

World War I or how I learned to stop worrying about and love the Kaiser, really is a nice fit for you. It was the last gentlemanly war, if war can be gentlemanly at all I guess. Now I've gone and confused myself.

You may have confused yourself, but it makes perfect sense to me. And what a chilling thought that is...
