My half of an art trade with the criminally talented [info]darkwaterfrey. This is the first painting I've done since November, and now I'm itching for more. Good art is the best payment for anything, provided you don't need money for food, and I'm happy to say that Doug has more than delivered on his side of the bargain. Then again, so did [info]birdpopcicle, who traded her incomparably great finch for my young lady with the feral fashion sense.

If anybody is up for more trading (did you get my e-mail Sarah?), I might be able to squeeze a few more in before things get really frantic with my current comic project.

This Friday I get to haul myself out of bed early (when you don't get to sleep until seven in the morning you are perfectly justified in calling eleven o'clock 'early'), to go give a talk to an Illustration class at the Art Institute of York. I am probably the least qualified person for this job, so it should be interesting.

quite a beaut! let us know how the class thing goes on friday! and i would still like to do an art trade with you, but there's no rush on this of course-- even if i did trade with you i'd have to wait forever to get it framed, ha!

hope you're doing well :)

Thanks Meg! You were actually the very next person I was going to e-mail about a trade. I just wasn't sure how busy you were. Let me know if/when you would want to.

And I am doing quite well, thank you; and wish you much the same. Exhausted, but happy.

That would be delightful! Let me see how my schedule is going to be, since I seem to be promising things to people as we speak. Your e-mail address is on your site, right?

Gee, thanks! I sort of forgot to comment on how awesome your Gatchaman drawing is. So in case you weren't aware: your recent Gatchaman drawing is great.

Man, you and me both, JP... flying bicycles are the way to go.

Apart from the paintings I did for the show last year (which if you missed them are on my website), I've just been doing pen and ink work. For things that I don't think I can show yet.

Your paintings are always so wonderful! This one is not an exception! I would love to trade some art with you at some point, if you'll have me!

Good luck with your illustration talk! I was recently asked to speak at a middle school's career day about careers in illustration. I thought about it for a few days and then decided not to do it since I myself have yet to really figure out how to make a career out of illustration.

Baby, you know you're always welcome here. I'll see how busy I am (working on my Plotz story), but maybe in the near future? I'm trying not to spread myself too thin, but your art is most certainly something worth owning.

I'm pretty sure you've already made a better go at an illustration career than I have. I think I was just asked because the gentleman in question knows I'll have no problem telling his students what's wrong with their work. I will let you know.

And thanks!

Wow, thank you Chris!

I'm not surprised that you and Doug are friends, but I'd be a little fearful of the two of you hanging out together. That's too much talent for one location. You're another one of those 'I should contact him about a trade' people. So there might be an e-mail in you future.

I am saving up for more professional and skilled assassins who will hopefully be capable of taking you out, otherwise The Brothers K might just have to have a clash of talents in the future. The assassins are of course an attempt to keep the rest the world from getting caught up in our climactic struggle.

That's more charitable of you than usual, Ian. Normally you don't give a single fig for the rest of the world. I await your ninjas on the field of battle; gin in one hand, a fresh pipe in the other.

I'm breaking out my ass-kicking fez.

ooo what a nice thing to lay eyes upon after returning home via the wretchedness of economy class airplane travel. but, MAN! those bicycles are wreaking some serious havoc on the landscape. birds are fish REVOLT.

one day i'd like to get back into the collab biz if one day you're interested and not-frantic.

give a good talk!

Why thank you dear. I hope the airplane didn't give you too much trouble. I prefer trains myself (as I think you know by now), but I can see how they would prove difficult for someone who lives on an island.

Perhaps I have not been clear with the above image. The air cycling contraptions are fog machines: perfectly safe for the environment.

A good talk was given. More on that tomorrow. :)

I'd like to do a trade. Here's what I propose: whatever you choose to send me (I'm sure I'll love it no matter what) in exchange for some hand-knitted winter accoutrements. Like a hat and gloves, or a hat and scarf. AND, if you send me a fairly simple, single-color picture, I will knit the picture into the hat and/or scarf. I know winter is almost over, but by the time you get them winter will be starting up again where you are! ;)

This idea has a lot of promise. I don't wear hats, and I already have a really cool hand-knit scarf (courtesy of DeAnne), but some gloves would be pretty neat. I will let you know.

You don't wear hats? What kind of monster are you?

As for gloves, you have many style options. They can be gloves, gloves with partial fingers, gloves without fingers, or mittens. Let me know if those interest you...

Who told you about the fog making flying bicycles? Was it Phileas? Was it?!! He's why I can't have nice things, anyway that's a hot picture. On a scale of 1 to 5 I give it a 1 + 8.

Phileas is always running his mouth at the gentleman's club. I give him another fortnight before they toss him out on his ear with not so much as a how-do-you-do.

Thanks.
